Successful Launch of the Internet based "Shanghai Sichuan North Street" 3D GIS Project in China.
With the target to realize the "3D Digital Globe" and "3D Digital Shanghai" and better utilize the 3D GIS technology to offer a comprehensive service for the Shanghai Municipal city construction, Terra-IT completed a Skyline-based 3D GIS platform for the newly-constructed Shanghai Sichuan North Street and launched it via internet successfully in the late of 2007. This is the first Skyline-based 3D GIS project in China to be open to the public and be used for the commercial purpose. The Shanghai Sichuan North Street Commerce and Trade Platform will be the powerful evidence to indicate that the 3D Digital Globe service will get off the ground in the near future, leaving plenty rooms for the growth in the 3D GIS internet service field.
Sichuan North Street is one of the traditional business centers in Shanghai, constructing a triangle business circle with the neighboring areas of the Huangpu River and the Suzhou River. With the intention to reconstruct an ecological, cultural, entertaining and fashionable center, Sichuan North Street gave a brand-new look in design and overall layout after undergoing a massive renovation, laying a good foundation to attract external investment. In order tolet the potential investors feel real with the location and street view and facilitate the investment introduction, Shanghai Economic Committee determined to construct a 3D platform by adopting Skyline GIS platform and assign Terra-IT to undertake the developing and service work.
Shanghai Sichuan North Street Commerce and Trade Platform is an integrated information center with higher capability of compatibility, fusing all kinds of information by combining with the real 3D models, including real estate, hotels, restaurants, entertainment, shopping malls and travel. With this platform, not only the ordinary people can quickly access the various commercial information, but also the traders can publish their information, demonstrate the products and attract the potential customers.
