Aligning Source Files to the Ruler

By default, TerraBuilder sets the UPP for a source file, in the MPT file, to the original UPP of the source. If this is not possible (i.e. the original UPP is not on a level of the ruler), TerraBuilder selects the next smaller (better resolution) value on the ruler.

The process is shown in the following diagram:

Project Ruler Pyramid

The MPT Ruler is represented pictorially as a pyramid. (Note that the drawing is not to scale.)

Each level in the pyramid corresponds to a UPP on the Project Ruler. The diagram shows the default Project Ruler, which is based on 1.

The ruler in our illustration has a total of seven layers, from 0.25 to 16. Three source files, with UPPs of 3, 1 and 0.4, have been aligned to the ruler:

§  The source file with UPP = 3 is aligned to 2 on the ruler.

§  The source file with UPP = 1 is aligned to 1 on the ruler.

§  The source file with UPP = 0.4 is aligned to 0.25 on the ruler.
