Detaching Polygons

To detach a polygon(s) from other layers:

1.     Do one of the following:

§  If you want to detach a specific polygon, select the required polygon. SeeSelecting a Polygon or Rectangle” in this chapter for more information.

§  If you want to detach all the polygons, which are related to any of the layers in Edit mode, on the Polygons tab, in the Layers in Edit group, click All Polygons.

§  If you want to detach all polygons that are related to all of the layers in Edit mode, on the Polygons tab, in the Layers in Edit group, click Common Polygons.

2.     If you want to detach the polygon(s) from multiple layers:

a.     Select the Edit check box for all layers you want it detached from.

b.     On the Polygon Edit tab, in the Layers group, click the arrow next to Detach from Layer and select Detach from All Layers in Edit mode.

Note:     If you try to detach a polygon from the last source it is attached to, a Warning is displayed asking you to confirm that you want to delete the polygon from the project. Click Yes to delete or No to cancel.

The polygon is detached from all layers in Edit mode.

3.     If you want to detach the polygon(s) from a specific layer, do the following:

a.     On the Polygon Edit tab, in the Layers group, click the arrow next to Detach from Layer and select Detach from Layer.

b.     Click either of the following:

§  The layer in the Working Window.

§  The layer name in the Layer List.

Note:    If you try to detach a polygon from the last source it is attached to, a Warning is displayed asking you to confirm that you want to delete the polygon from the project. Click Yes to delete or No to cancel.

The polygon is detached from the selected layer.

4.     If you want to detach a polygon from all layers it is attached to, on the Polygon Edit tab, in the Clipboard group, click Delete. The polygon(s) is deleted entirely from the project.
