Display Mode

The layers in the Working and Reference Windows can be displayed in three different modes: Normal, Fast, and Color.

Layer Quality

Description

Normal

The highest quality display possible. The quality of the layer display in this mode is identical to the quality used for creating the final 3D terrain, and can be used to accurately evaluate the data for the final 3D product. Because this display mode uses the highest quality display it tends to take longest to refresh the display (e.g. when panning).

Fast

The intermediate level of display quality possible. It displays the layers in reduced reproject and scale quality, shortening the time required to refresh the display while working on the project.

Layer Color/Resolution Color

This is the lowest level of display quality possible. It uses single colors to represent each of the layers in the display. A unique color is automatically assigned to each layer. This display mode is used mainly when processing takes a long time, for example: when a layer is accessed through a server and is slow to respond, or as an easy way to distinguish between the layers.

Click the arrow to display a drop-down menu with two options for color selection of the layers in the project:

§  Layer Color - Colors are assigned according to the color set for each layer in the Properties Sheet.

§  Resolution Color - Colors are assigned according to each layer’s UPP. As a result, all layers with the same UPP display in the same color.

To select a display mode:

1.     On the View tab, in the Display Mode group, select the required layer quality.

2.     If you want to display a specific layer in Color though the rest of the project is displayed in Normal or Fast mode, do the following:

a.     In the General section of the Properties Sheet, in the Display Layer as Color drop-down menu, select Yes.

b.     In the Layer Color field of the Properties Sheet, click Edit, and select a fill color using one of these methods:

§  Click one of the displayed Basic colors.

§  Create a custom color using the color matrix and luminosity slider or by typing exact parameters in the value-boxes. If you want to add your custom color to the Custom colors section of the dialog box, click Add to Custom Colors.

The layer is displayed in the selected color.
