Layer

To display a layer’s shortcut menu:

§  In the Working window, right-click the layer frame.

Right-Click Menu for a Layer in View Mode

If the layer is in View mode but is not in Edit mode a menu with three options is displayed:

Command

Description

Edit Exclusive

Puts the layer in Edit mode, exclusively; all other layers are removed from Edit mode.

Edit

Puts the layer in Edit mode but doesn’t change the edit status of other layers.

Hide

Removes the layer from View (mode).

If the layer is in Edit mode, a menu is displayed with three mode options and some navigation and editing commands.

The commands are divided in to groups according to type; a line separates each group of commands.

Edit Exclusive

Removes all layers except the selected one from Edit mode.

Move to View

Switches the layer to View mode.

Hide

Removes the layer from display (from both View and Edit mode).

Placement in the Ordered Layer List

See The Ordered Layer List View” in this chapter for more information.

Bring to Front

Moves the layer to the top of its resolution level (UPP in Project) in the Ordered Layer List.

Send to Back

Moves the layer to the bottom of its resolution level (UPP in Project) in the Ordered Layer List.

Bring Forward

Moves the layer up one line in the order of layers in its resolution level.

Send Backward

Moves the layer down one line in the order of layers in its resolution level.

Attaching and Detaching Polygons to Layer

See Attaching and Detaching Polygons” in the “Using Polygons and Rectangles” chapter for more information.

Attach Selected Polygon/Rectangle

Attaches the selected polygon to the selected layer

Note:    This command is enabled only if you first select a polygon, and then right-click a layer it is not attached to.

Detach Selected Polygon/Rectangle

Detaches the selected polygon from the selected layer.

Note:    This command is enabled only if you first select a polygon, and then right-click a layer it is attached to.

Paste Polygon

Pastes a copied or cut polygon. This creates a new polygon identical to the original but independent from it; changes made to one of these polygons do not affect the other.

Note:    This command is enabled only if you have a polygon on the clipboard.

Setting Layer Extent

See “Modifying Layer Dimensions” in the “Layer Manipulation” chapter for more information.

Move Layer

Move the layer to a new location by dragging the layer in the layer window.

Layer Extent

§  Set - Resize the blue layer extent frame within the borders of the red layer boundary frame by:

§  Selecting and moving waypoints and sides.

§  Clicking to define the waypoint for one corner and then clicking to define the waypoint for the opposite diagonal corner.

§  Reset - Restore the layer extent to its original dimensions.

Tie Point Management

See Using Tie Points” in the “Layer Manipulation” chapter for more information.

Place Tie Points

Define the geographical coordinates of a layer whose coordinates are unknown with respect to the coordinates of other reference layers with known coordinates by inserting a number of tie points in both this layer and the layers with known coordinates.

Adjust Layer by Tie Points

Adjusts a layer based on tie points.

Delete All Tie Points

Deletes all of a layer’s tie points.

Exit Tie Points Mode

Exits the tie point mode.
